On 6–8 June 2015, an event promoting astronomy took place on the premises of the largest, privately owned astronomical observatory in Poland (Rzepiennik Biskupi, Małopolska).
The three-day event included:
- Astronomical Cross Country Run/Walk,
- Space Picnic “Space Station III”,
- Grand Opening of the Observatory.
On the last day, as part of the official opening ceremony, Queen Jadwiga of Poland became the patron of the Astronomical Observatory in Rzepiennik Biskupi.
The event was attended by such honourable guests as the cosmonaut Mirosław Hermaszewski, prof. Virginia Trimble from the University of California, and prof. Bożena Czerny from the Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center, Polish Academy of Sciences, in Warsaw.
The Opening Day of the Astronomical Observatory was organized by a representative of the forScience Foundation, Agata Kołodziejczyk, who collaborates with the Astronomia Nova Association and the newly-opened Queen Jadwiga Astronomical Observatory.
